Diaconate Ministry

“Deacons are members in good standing the FMC.  They are persons whose spiritual gifts have been confirmed by their local churches.  In response to God’s call on their lives, deacons offer servant-leadership in particular areas of the local church complementing the work of elders and leading the membership to carry out its ministries to one another and the world.”

Local Ministerial Candidate

“A local ministerial candidate is a member of the FMC who is seriously considering a call to Christian ministry as an ordained elder. “

 Conference Ministerial Candidate

“A conference ministerial candidate is a member of the FMC who has completed the LMC process and has been received by an annual conference in preparation for ordained ministry.” (2007 Book of Discipline ¶5340)

Steps for Ordination

  • Approved Local Ministerial Candidate
  • Credentialing Enrollment Form completed with transcripts to FM Credentialing office.
  • PNWC Ministry Application (contact Arlene@pnwc.org )
  • Psychological Assessment
  • Pre-CMC MEG Board interview
  • Outcomes Based Ordination (OBO) assessment
  • Foundational Courses
    • These are some of the required courses for CMC candidates who are tracking for elder ordination in the Free Methodist Church.
      • History and Polity of the FMC
      • Wesleyan Theology
      • Systematic Theology
      • Homiletics
    • These (and other) courses are also offered in January intensives through the FMWMC in Indianapolis. Click here for more information
