Stephen Gray

Dr. Stephen Gray has been in ministry as a pastor, planter, trainer, and leader for over 24 years. He has been to his wife, Marlene, for 22 years and is the father of three beautiful daughters, and grandfather of two.

Stephen has successfully transitioned two churches, and planted four new churches. He has also conducted several major research projects focused on planting healthy churches in suburban, urban and rural America. For the past six years he led a church planting movement in the General Baptist Denomination and recently returned to his Free Methodist roots. Currently he is serving as the Church Planting Facilitator for the Western region of the Free Methodist Church. Gray is known for his vast experience in church planting. Stephen speaks to church planters and plant leaders across the U.S. at events like: Catalyst, Exponential, and The Sticks.

Stephen serves on the church planting staff, as a consultant, with Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Calif., Co-Founded Church Planting Dynamics and has authored several books: Legacy Churches (2009), Full Disclosure: Exposing Church Planting Blind Spots (2009), Planting Fast-Growing Churches (2007) and Recommissioned: A Fresh Look At Church Planting (2006). He has also developed dozens of church planting “How-to” manuals.
